I’m tired of Windows Vista, plain and simple. While trying to perform a simple command, the command line crashed - twice. I think the best course of action is to switch to a Linux distro, but I’m not sure which one to use.
What Linux Distros Do You Like? Please post a comment! I’ll let you guys know what I decide, and document any issues I come across while switching over.
I do prefer KDE over Gnome, but I can adapt. Having rpm packages readily available for common packages would be great too, but not a must.
I’ve been using Linux on IRCNode, the ZingVideo Server, and even had it installed on my desktop for a while, so switching over at home seems to be a logical decision.
Thanks,

Richard Chapman Says:
I use PCLinuxOS which has the KDE desktop, but it also has Gnome and XFce versions. You may not be the one to decide which distro you use. If your computer decides it doesn’t like a distro then you either have to find out how to get it to work or try another distribution. Some poor souls think Ubuntu is the only Linux and if it doesn’t work on their computer they give up on Linux.
The best advice I can give is to know what you are doing. The only way to achieve that is to do some research. It’s out there and it’s easy to find. It’s also easy to get overwhelmed with what the Internet spits out. The best place to start is often at a distro’s homepage. Check out the forums while you’re there too.
Linux is there, now, for everybody. The only problem is that it is different from what people expect. It take a while to overcome years of bad habits learned on Windows.
