It turns out that I’ll be making the switch to linux sooner than I had expected. Here’s why:

I have no idea why it’s showing this, and it happens every time I turn on my computer. Thanks for all the advice and help choosing a distro. After reading several reviews, I’ve decided on the newest version of Ubuntu. I should have it installed in a few days (I would do it now, but I’m fairly busy).
If you need to get in contact with me during this time, my email account will still be checked hourly via my iPhone: Naresh@ragsites.com. You can also reach me on my cell phone: (303) 588-2376 (txt me too!)

1I’ve never seen that, but Windows Vista is a pain.
Are you on SP1?

2This problem happens on XP too, but not with a warning. The way, in XP at least, to get the profile to fix itself is to delete the Favorites folder under the users documents folder. Im not sure if Vista still has this folder but the reason you do this is because when you login, Windows checks the profile for certain folders like Favorites and if it isnt there then it rebuilds it. Im not sure how much of your settings are wiped but maybe a documents backup is advised.
I have barely used Vista and even for that short time I knew it was a flop.
Ubuntu FTW! Have fun Nar.

3I would use the latest version of kunbuntu, it’s the same thing an unbuntu, but with the KDE desktop environment instead of the gnome desktop, gnome is a lot more stupid and boring compared to kde.

4Yeah, I officially hate Vista as of today. I tried to fix a friend’s laptop - all the drivers, EVERYTHING, magically disappeared. With no way to get the drivers back on (CD drive not recognized; you can forget about USB and Ethernet) it was pretty much game over.
XP/Apathetic OS for the win.
